Hurell’s Evo: Smurfzilla

Hurell’s Evo is straight out of Zen Motors with a serious build.  Having seen the car in its early stages a year ago at the Southrnfresh 1 meet.  In that time Hurell has went full on with his Evo and turned it into what he calls Smurfzilla..

So check out Mick Hawkins visual presentation of Hurell’s Evo.

We always try to bring you  great cars, but before all that we like to feature enthusiast vehicles.  Hurell and I talked a lot while Guy did his magic with the camera.  And he went through his past vehicle history, which begin in a Honda drivers seat and after a  brief ownership of a SRT4 he stepped up into this Evo.  But before this build began he took the step to adulthood and made sure family was taken care of in a nice new home.

And once family was happy, the games began at Zen Motors as detailed in his build thread there were plenty of road blocks.  Hurell was set on keeping A/C in the car which gave way to the front facing turbo.  He also mentioned that the car is a blast even off boost due to the custom made Mahle Motorsports 10:5 compression pistons along with the larger displacement made for the perfect formula for power down low and up high.  This he chose to go with from his past experience with building Hondas.  It is always good to see someone that is so satisfied and happy with their vehicle, the next big changes will be to upgrade the drivetrain again to hold the new power, and fresh paint.

BUILD THREAD

PHOTOS BY: GUY HAYNIE

As documented in his build thread on EvolutionM.net, Hurell’s build started with a hole in the block due to the ole right foot. And he decided to go all out in the build. Of course any Evo build is not without the 4g64 2.4 bottom end, and a 62mm turbo bolted on.

Georgia has a large amount of high power Evos, but Hurell’s build has been the one we were waiting to see done

Really digged the rear diffuser and the Ralli Art mudflaps together.

With the amount of money spent on this car the title serves it right…BTW wait till see his 1st wifes car..:)

First time I have seen the new Work Meister M1R in a 18X9.5.  Made to fit just right on the Evo.

If you peak closely you can catch a peak at the little surprise in the grill.

You see it?
