BoostJunkie: Stephen’s Single Turbo Supra

It is obvious to understand why people love Supra’s so much. They look aggressive, they come with a twin turbocharged 3.0L inline six cylinder with the strength of an M1 Abrams, and they have an endless amount of aftermarket support to make your Supra, your Supra. I fell in love with Supra’s during Tx2k6 which was my first Tx2k event to attend. This was when it was small and there were more Supra’s than anything else. Now it is over run with GTR’s and TT Lambos but every now and then you catch a glimpse of a big turbo highway king.

I remember seeing this car awhile back during Tx2k10 which is the year that Stephen purchased his Renaissance Red single turbo Supra. Shortly after his 2007 turbocharged Civic Si was set a blaze due to a minor crack in the turbo manifold, he was able to use the insurance pay off to travel to Dallas and take owner ship of his 97 15th anniversary Supra. After picking it up it was time for to start building.

D3 Performance Engineering helped with the fuel and ECU systems by equipping the car with a Custom -10an Catch Can, Pro EFI 128 tuned for E85, FIC 2150cc Injectors, Weldon fuel pressure regulator along with a Walbro 400 primary pump and a Weldon secondary pump. After that everything else was done by Stephen along with the help of his friends. They equipped the car with KSport adjustable coilovers, along with CCW Anodized Classics (18×10 in the front and 18×11.5 in the rear) wrapped in Mickey Thompson ET Street 2 tires (305/35R18).

For the power side Stephen equipped a BorgWarner Billet S366 turbocharger, HKS 264 Cams, BC Springs, ARP head studs, WOTM turbo manifold, Ti Retainers and a 4″ custom turbo back exhaust system. To help in transfering the power to the rear axles a Titan S2 built A340E Transmission with a Titan 3500 stall converter was equipped to the vehicle.

The more time I spent editing this set the more I wished I had my own Supra. One day in the future I will make the purchase and keep it for as long as possible. Until then I will settle with pleasing my eyes with the few Supra’s that will come out to Tx2k next week. It is upsetting that the biggest Supra event has been taken over by other vehicles. I guess it is time to make the road trip to Vegas for their Supra meet.

It is great to see someone like Stephen who takes a strong pride in his Supra. He speaks about it like is a member of his family. He even said that if they come out with the FT-1 concept that he will be sure to pick one up and keep along side his current anniversary edition one. He also happened to mention that after Tx2k14 he will be tearing the car down and bringing it back stronger and faster than ever before.
