Kevin’s S14: Six Years Strong

As mentioned in the SF: GRILLIN N CHILLIN coverage post, this S14 is always in attendance at every meet we have.  And I never got a chance to meet the owner.  Well at Road Atlanta during Formula D I finally caught the mystery driver at his vehicle.  And we setup a date to get some fresh photos of the car.

A month later we coordinated a photo session with Khris H. and his brand spanking new D7000.  As Kevin and me waited for Khris to arrive we were approached by a officer, which is something I am used to dealing during city photo sessions.  But the officer quickly told us there is no problem, that he just wanted to check out Kevin’s car!  He was most impressed with the wheels and the incredible finish and even joked with him about arresting us and taking the wheels…lol.

Shortly after Khris arrived and as he broke in his new Nikon on the S14 Kevin and I chatted about the car.  Kevin took me back to when he first got the car, and built it all up from scratch himself 6 years ago.  We also discussed the pain and the countless dollars spent on the entire build .  Kevin has only been in Atlanta for a year, and told me how much he likes Atlanta, and enjoys the automotive culture here.

I was also informed that the car was gonna be parted out soon after!!!!!  Which i could not understand why he would even want to do such a thing after six years of putting together something like this.  Kevin had a very good reason for this decision, and that was to finance his dream car, a super low mileage 01 Silvia Spec R, and in fact he was on his way out of town to pick it up the next day!  Than it all made sense to me, and I was just excited for him as he was.  As the day went on, and the photos were taken, Kevin expressed to me a few times that he was really gonna miss the car when its gone, and also said when its all said and done it will be worth it to get the car he has always wanted.
