Too Cool for Old School

It seems that a lot of you think that Honda’s glory days are over.  You’ve elevated the 6th gen Civic to god status, heralded the CR-X as the single greatest car of all time, capable of both 50 mpg and Mustang-beating 0-60 times (ignoring the fact that it took two separate cars to do that), and written off any new Honda as a bloated, expensive, poser mommy-mobile. You’re dead wrong.

I’m sure you’ve seen Charlie’s 2007 Civic Si around before. He has become one of the poster children for the rich Atlanta stance scene, and his new look fails to disappoint. Sticking with OEM style, the front end has been upgraded with the 2009 face and finished off with Honda’s own HFP lip kit.

Those wheels that you are currently falling in love with are Blitz 01′s (18×9 +23) and are perfectly framed by the fenders courtesy of BC Racing type BR Coilovers.  They are covered in 215/35 Federal rubber.

Charlie has kept the Civic’s power relatively stock, staying content with the K20z3 that a lot of you dream of swapping into your tired EK hatches. An AEM intake and KiddRacing header have been installed to keep things interesting though.

It is not my intent to offend. There are admittedly different Hondas for different price points, and I should hope that there will always be a loyal fanbase to the classics. Honestly, I would like to see some of you with the means start trying to preserve the S500′s, Z600′s, and 1st gen Civics that are rotting away in our nation’s junkyards. But it doesn’t hurt to look forward either. These new Hondas look good, are great starting points for big power, and are as reliable as their 1990′s golden era ancestors. And the prices are coming down. Later this week, we’ll take a look at another new-school old Honda that follows that tried-and-true Honda hatchback formula…Stay Tuned!!
