More than meets the eye…

I’ll be completely honest.  I’ve been getting a little bored with the stance movement as of late.  It seems that everyone is buying the cheapest car they can find, picking up the widest wheels they see on Craiglist, screwing the thing onto the asphalt, and acting like they’ve started a revolution.  While that look might turn some heads, it takes more than cut springs and two inch wheel adapters to break necks.

This is Nick’s Honda Civic.  He showed up at our Southrn Fresh meet last year, making the trip over from our neighbor to the west, Alabama.  Right away, I’m sure you noticed the stance; and rightfully so.  Nick lowered the four door with Ground Control coilovers and Koni Sports, fine tuning the stance with a Blox camber kit and lower control arms.  The entire chassis has been stiffened with various pieces from ARS and Beak’s.  The wheels are widened Volkswagen Corrado steelies (15×8, 15×9, +14) with 165/50 and 195/45 stretched tires, respectively.

Not to be remembered as a one trick pony, the stock motor has been replaced with a B16A, which should definitely help the “go” side of the equation.  The exterior has been dressed up with a sticker-bombed Mugen style front lip and EK Civic side skirts.

The interior of the Civic (which I regrettably failed to photograph) has been decorated with rare black interior suede inserts and suede headliner, an Audi s4 dome light and Lexus puddle lights on front doors.  Nick replaced the tired old seats with Acura RSX front and rear units, rounding out the borrowed OEM theme.  Quality sound is guaranteed with a healthy dose of Kenwood products installed throughout the cabin.

Take note, Stancers and Stancettes: Nick, with this modest Civic, has proven that its entirely possible to both get that fitted look without ignoring every other aspect of the build, even without breaking the bank.  So before you go shoving Corvette sawblades under your mom’s old PT Cruiser so that you can get your fifteen minutes of e-fame, stop and think about the whole picture.  It might not hurt to consider that there more to style than meets the eye.

  • Thank you for correct spelling and grammar. I hate reading an article and finding mistakes. It’s extremely unprofessional and kind of a downer. Nice feature dude.

  • EG Sedan in the correct color…done correctly. ‘Nice soapbox ;]’

  • I couldn’t agree more about stance becoming boring…This car is something else though. Great photography and coverage!
