Gulf Coast Autowerks: Farewell to Winter ’12
Driving from New Orleans for my first taste of what was East of the Mighty Mississippi, I didn’t know what to expect quality or quantity wise at the Gulf Coast Autowerks: Fare to Winter 2012 meet.
Being that the Lakefront Meet in New Orleans was the same weekend, it was hard not to make comparisons between the two; but when I arrived at the venue for GCA, all my preconceived notions were tossed out.
First of all the location, while sometimes hard to manage photos, offered a large gathering spot for some of the finest autos in the Gulf Coast region. Second the people at the show were just so down to Earth and friendly. Take any of your stereotypes about Alabama and throw them out the window because Alabama rolls (tide) hard. Third the weather was immaculate. Setting the meet later on in the day made for a relaxing atmosphere and great lighting.
After leaving the meet and heading back to the Big Easy, I was already itching to come back to the meet by the bay for another installment of cleanliness and class at the GCA: Farewell to Summer event later on this year.
Thank you to all the Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida people for making this meet such an incredible success and experience.
