Water by the Bridge 2014

The 5th annual Water by the Bridge event, sponsored by local shop Grossman Tuning, took place at the scenic waterfront park in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, on March 22, 2014. Water by the Bridge, traditionally a show based around Audis and VWs, has grown substantially in the past few years, with this year’s attendance nearly doubling that of last year’s.  With it being one of the first shows of the year and only a week before Import Alliance Spring Meet, the show had participants and spectators from all over, anxious to debut the hard work they’ve put into their cars for show season.

In my opinion, one of the best things about Water by the Bridge is the laid back atmosphere and the accepting attitudes that come with it. For a VAG-centered show, Water by the Bridge does not discriminate. This year, they had a very large collection of non-Euro cars, some of which caught my eye throughout the day. There was a fair amount of Subarus there, easily more than I could count on two hands.

Domestics had a pretty good showing as well, the Dodge Caliber and Dodge Neon pictured here definitely looked good. You’ve got to love those new Focus STs too! But one of my favorite cars at the event was this Ford Probe. It’s not the car you’d typically see stanced, but I really think it works.

One of the gems of the non-Euro cars was this incredible Cadillac Riviera. After it was parked and I got some photos of it, I just sat down and admired the paint work. Hopefully we can see more of this car!

Another main attraction at the show was this Porsche-swapped classic Mini. It was at last year’s show but it was not complete. Well, they definitely brought it back hard this year. The car was so popular at the show, I tried 4 times to photograph it and couldn’t due to the sheer amount of people standing around it. I can see why though, if you get the chance to see this car, definitely spend some time looking at the details.

All in all, Water by the Bridge remains one of the events I always get excited about. The different styles of modification are all welcome, and even praised. How can you go wrong with a beautiful location, awesome cars, and great people? I already plan on going next year, and you should too!
