JZilla Track Days: JDM vs. DTM and Friends presented by SOUTHRNFRESH
We are happy to announce that we will be hosting the Jzilla JDM vs. DTM event at Atlanta Motorsports Park on May 5th 2024. I started building my Protege 5 specifically for track day duty. And I have spoken to a lot of you all about getting on track and the process to do so. I always hear people wanting to do so much and how much you think you need just to get on track. My first track day in my Protege 5 was with a a 20 year old 287k mile Mazda with coilovers, maintenance, tires and brakes. I have learned a lot and been able to help instruct with the Jzilla team and I am hoping that this event will be the one that gets you out and on track. Even if its your first and last time or its the start of an addiction!
- What if my car is stock?
Good…. its great to learn your vehicle and progress instead of throwing parts on it that may make the car perform worse, or more importantly drive different from your own personal style. Just because someone on the internet says this works for them, does not mean it will work for you. The best part of the build is the progress and learning your vehicle from stock. But if it is modified that is not a bad thing by no means. I just don’t want to steer anyone away from getting on track with their stock car. Helmets are also available for rental for the day if you do not have your own.
- My car is slow…
Most of the cars on track are slow. And being slow is never frowned upon. Safety and learning is the top priority. Your first track day you start in Green group and are paired with instructors that help you learn the basics in safety , track etiquette , learning the line and car control. Over time the speed and pace will come natural. As you progress you are graduated up to higher run groups with check rides based on your progression. Instructors are available to assist you all day and to answer any questions and help you get comfortable on track and stay safe.
If you are interested in signing up check the link below for more information and to register. All their events are open for the year for registration, so if you cant make the May 5th event there are plenty others!
