The Mitty Road Atlanta 2024 Gallery

Photos from the 2024 Walter Mitty at Road Atlanta.  Every year The Mitty has a theme, and this year it was the cars of Japan.  Mazda Motorsports brought out their Heritage Collection this year to the event.  Being a longtime Mazda fan it was a must attend!

The legendary Mazda 767B.

This was my first time seeing the RX7 GTO car in person.  While the 767 and the 787 are the main stars of Mazda’s motorsports history, the GTO cars have always been my personal favorite.

Another RX7 GTO car privately owned.  The group of guys have owned the car since the early 90s and have been racing it since then.

The legendary R34 JGTC car.  One of the technicians told me the story on how they were able to get 2 of these cars out of Japan many years ago.  The car is full of one off parts that were a huge issue in the past, but they have been able to keep the car alive with building parts in house.  The other JGTC car they have was never put on the track, but it features high output VQ engine that Nismo was testing before going over the the 350Z chassis.

Erik Czajkowski’s Mazda RX7

After missing this Protege last year, I was so glad that it was back out this year.  The car is dear to me for obvious reasons.  It is an original World Challenge car back from 2002.  Originally driven by Mary Katharine for Tri-Point Motorsports who worked hand and hand with Mazda on a few cars in the early 2000s.  The car remains original besides the original 250hp Sunbelt Race engine.  It has a built NA engine that makes 175hp now, mainly because the Sunbelt engines didnt last very long.
