The 2011 Peugeot 908

This past Thursday Peugeot released their 2011 Le Mans contender. Although the new 908 looks similar to last years car, according to Peugeot the car has been entirely built ground up only sharing the windshield wiper from last years 908.

In the engine compartment the turbo diesel V12 has been swapped for a 3.7 liter turbo diesel V8  V8 pushing out around 550HP which is over 100HP less than last years car due to new rules. Peugeot claims the new car has better aerodynamics to make up for the loss in HP and they have also gone with the same front size tires as the wheel as Audi has done on their R18 which Acura introduced in 2009 with their LMP1 car.

The new Peugeot 908 will have its race debut at the 12 Hours of Sebring in Florida next month which is the first round of the American Le Mans Series and the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup.
