Nick & Beau’s VW GTI : Fraternal Twins

Louisiana is home to two main cities, New Orleans and Baton Rouge (No Shreveport doesn’t count, pipe down). These two cities are like fraternal twins; both like to party and house large entertainment sports teams, but the appeal and character of each is quite different; much like these two Tornado Red MK5 Volkswagen GTI.

Owners Nick Hill and Beau Dennis both chose the same platform to build their creation, but each had their own interpretation of what the ideal MK5 GTI should be. What makes these two owners even more interesting is that they built eerily similar vehicles, but only one isn’t originally from Louisiana. Beau hails from Pennsylvania and only recently started at Louisiana State University.

Nick and Beau both decided for their builds less is more, and focused on the OEM+ style. Nick outfitted his GTI with OEM pieces like the OEM Votex front lip and projector foglights, and Beau added a Euro Spec Rabbit front bumper and front lip along with an FK badgeless front grille and filled in the hood notch for add cleanliness.

The two friends both had the same idea in mind when they decided to lower the GTI. Knowing that in the VW world, lower is better. Nick’s stance is thanks to a set of FK Highsports and Beau drops his beauty on KSport V3 coils. Nick of Low-Weezy-Ana’s GTI is sitting on a set of 18”x9.5” Rota Grids wrapped in 205/40 Nitto Neogen while the Euro Spec looking GTI of Beau decided to have an identity crisis by stuffing in a set of 17”x9.5” Corvette Sawblades with the Hankook Ventus V4 tires providing the stretch.

When you look at these two cars side by side they appear very similar, but with close inspection a few details emerge that give each its own identity. Such as the shaved trunk and Votex rear bumper of Beau’s VW compared to Nick’s tail end still sporting the shining insignia.

While this cars aren’t your track monsters or showroom queens, it’s unique to find two owners living in such close proximity (well for most of the year) building on the same train of thought as Nick and Beau. These two Golf’s have seen some changes after this shoot was done too. Nick is now on air ride and Beau has ditched the saw blades and is on the hunt for something new. If you are in the Louisiana area for a car meet/show keep your eyes peeled for these two twin stunners.

A big thank you definitely goes out to Brandon Primes of Open Circle Media for providing the guest photography for Southrnfresh of these two proper cars.
