Wekfest Texas 2013 Part 2: The cars of Wekfest

Finally back with part 2 of Wekfest Texas coverage.  I do apologize for the lack of updates lately, but the holidays have slowed down progress on features and making posts.  But it will be back to normal in the next few days as we get back on our schedule.

There were 6 of us in attendance at Wekfest, so we have many photos of the same cars, just different angles.  As I mentioned in part 1, Texas brought out a record high of cars to the event.  So we have tons of photos to share.  Most of the vehicles are new to me, so if you do see your car posted, and want to claim it drop us a comment below.

 WEKFEST TEXAS COVERAGE PART 1

Photos by: Josh Smylie – Derek Matherne and Myself

Jon and I arrived first at the convention center at around 10:45am, and it was still freezing outside.  Most of the cars had already checked in already. We were not going to be let in for media until noon.  So we wondered around the back area and took a few photos of the cars still rolling in.  The first one being this E36 M3.

Turbocharged and bagged Lexus IS.  The ISF front bumper seems to be the best upgrade to the IS.

I always see these cars heavily modified from overseas.

Side shot of Chan Le’s WRX

For a long time I had been a fan of this car.  “CPT JON’s” Cadillac from Refined Elegance.  I am a fan of the automotive culture as a whole, not just one type.  And the Cadillac is huge part of Houston’s culture.

Scottie Vo’s LExus CT200H

We wondered around to the long line of people waiting to get inside.  The line was about a block long at this time.  There was also a youth cheerleader competition going on in another hall of the convention center.  It was funny to see moms with their young daughters drive by, and look at the thousands of dudes outside waiting to get in, thinking…”are we at the right place”…haha

Bagged Widebody S15, nice car all around.  I have never seen the Motegi MR221 Traklite wheels on a street car before .

Mercedes S65 with the full Lorinser kit from NOLA STUNNAS

Lexus GS with what looks to be a INGS body kit that has been molded.    Looks a lot better molded to the bumper.

Chris Shivley’s crazy widebody 350z repping team 16ness

Gorgeous E28 from Team 16NISS .  We typically do not see E28s with this level of restoration.  Mike Burroughs changed a lot of peoples thoughts about how the E28 is modified.  Good to know that not all owners want them to look like “rusty”.

Potresse came out and showed their Ferrari 430 on HRE’s

Rami, leader of Low-weezy-ana

Michael McCollum’s EVO X from Low-weezy-ana

Albert Nguyen’s Subaru from Low-weezy-ana

SCs have always been a hate or love for me personally.  I like to see them modified but would never own one, It just always bugged me how the front bumpers meet the front fenders with these cars.   I think the owner wanted to clean up the bay with the covers on the sides.  I think it works to some extent, but nothing beats a neat bay.

Tom’s ridiculously clean S2000 that we featured in the past, which can be seen here

Tom’s engine bay to this day is still one of the best in the country, everything is just thought out so well.  I still stand by my word the South has some of the best S2000 builds.

Dante’s C-West kitted CRZ powered by Top Secret turbo kit is always a nice site to see at the local shows

Bronze Mugen MF10’s backed up by a Stoptech BBK

Tony’s LS powered M3.  Apparently the car had a small electrical fire before entering the show.  But I was told it did not damage much, it could have been much worse.

Jessica’s AIMGAIN widebody ISC on ISS Forged wheels

Love the execution on this SC430.  Would like to know more information on the build, if anyone knows the owner tell them to drop us a line!

This Mercedes was previously owned by Jake Campos featured on the site here.  The car is now owned by his brother.

Chan Le’s Subaru WRX

350Z from BRG Texas.  i do believe this car was bright green awhile back.

This civic put together by CNS Custom works was cool to look at.  It had tons of custom engraving work.  Even the wheel center caps were engraved also.  Things like this are not usually done to civics, or any Honda for that matter.

Chris Hout’s Datsun Bluebird

Geo’s LS from Refined Elegance was one of the cars that I have always loved.  The car has remained at that top level of VIP styling for me.  It evolves with the times, but still always remains  true to the basics of VIP cars.

Thomas P’s Lexus GS is another top notch VIP build.

LS460 with WALD International kit.

I did not get much time to check out this GS.  I wish I did looking at the photos.  If you are the owner, or know who is, drop us a line!

Steven Tran’s  Lexus ISF

Thomas Ho’s Audi from Team Proskekts

Vince Phi’s Tundra

\

Roger le’s G37

Jon Do’s Inline racing S2000

Anthony Do’s Inline racing FRS

That is all from Part 2 of our Wekfest Texas coverage.  Much more to post.  We have many many photos to share.

Thanks for Looking!
