Another Southrnfresh annual celebration has come and gone for the 7th time.  And I am extremely thankful for everyone that attended , liked , shared , and supported the event.  This was our second time at the Coweta County Fairgrounds.  And we changed the layout this year and used the top pavilion section over the lower end of the field.

The overall feel of the show felt much better, the layout forced people to mingle and get to see the cars in a different setting besides a field and or a convention center.

The most important part of our events is that the people have a good time.  So that was my priority from day one.  If we could have had the show closer to the city we would have, but it was impossible to get a proper date within city limits.  I personally do not think driving 30-45 minutes out side the city limits is out of the ordinary.  Sometimes a different atmosphere is a good thing.

We had an insane amount of support from local and out of town businesses.  Something that is very important to me, because many business’ complain about the lack of support in Atlanta.  But truth is , you only get back what you put in to it.  And it shows in their growth with our vendors that have been supporting our event for the last 7+ years.

We have always given out Top 20 awards to the attendees.  Mainly to award people with something for their hard work and dedication.  I have to express this every year that these awards don’t have categories, don t have a class requirement, and are strictly chosen by me only.

I base the award on a long term scale of my personal appreciation.  To some it may seem unfair and not the way to give away an award.  But, its how it has always been and how it will forever be.  There was a guy that was so upset at me about not winning an award, and how he was not judged properly blah blah.  Truth is that if you come to a Southrnfresh event for the trophy , this may not be the event for you.

The absolute only reason these events happen and this site is still active is because of the support and motivation from my peers to continue.  I have set back and tried to enjoy others attempts at bringing their events to Atlanta.  And there have been plenty of hits, but when its all said and done.  The event always ends up feeling like a generic event just in a different (or same) building.

I sometimes feel like my loyalty to the local automotive scene hurts Southrnfresh’s growth.  When someone comes to us for assistance with an event or help we offer it and support it.  In hopes that they will give Georgia the best event and that they will continue to support Georgia to the best of their ability.

Sometimes that does happen, but within the last few years it has not.  And in return the outsiders bleed us dry and go and tell everyone how the scene in Georgia does not support anything.  Just imagine if your favorite artists decided to have a concert in the same building and sing the same songs all year.  It gets repetitive and it does nothing for either side.

It took me to year seven to understand this concept.  Luckily this year we got amazing support from the ones that have been with Southrnfresh from our humble beginnings.  And the event felt like a family reunion seeing a lot of the Atlanta OG’s come out after being away for so long.

I dont want to come off like a bitter local guy who is hating on the bigger names.  But I am part of this scene here, so its personal to me.  So I do think my opinion on the matter of events in Georgia is valid.

I can not express how grateful I am for the continued support over the years.  And when I say this site is powered by the support of you all I mean it.  Every time someone buys a decal, likes a post, shares a photo, or even asks about SF.  It powers up the machine to keep going.  So as long as you all continue to show support it will continue.
