Infamous Society Atlanta

For some reason the words “car club” has turned into a bad word in Georgia.  When I was introduced to this automotive scene car clubs were a huge part of it.  Back then if you were not in a car club no one would even look in your direction.  The standards for a club were much higher also, and it was a process to be apart of a club.  You had to not be a scumbag, you paid dues for events and travel, you had to do community service, and you had to have a certain dedication to your car.

Over the years the true core of what a car club is has been tainted and ruined by what some consider friendship.  You can get your drivers license , go buy a nice car, and instantly people ask you to join their club, group, team, gang or crew in a matter of week.  And a week later the same guy is on Instagram with a different club banner.  And the standards for acceptance was at a all time low.  I have witnessed clubs being formed at a show so that they can win the “best car club” trophy to their own show.  That mentality ruins how people view car clubs.

What Larry has built with Infamous Society is what I have always known a car club to be.  A group of people that are dedicated to the automotive scene local and nation wide.  My favorite attribute about Larry is his honesty.  Its rare to meet someone that will look you in the face and tell you how they feel good or bad.  Its good to have that type of person at the throne of your car club. It keeps the foolishness out and keeps the integrity of the car club.

Larry has always taken his craft serious , and been very dedicated to the automotive scene.  He took time and studied the craft of the vip culture over the years.  Going from his widebody Q45 to his current Lexus LS460.  Staying ahead of the curve and bringing back the clean and subtle Vip style.

For a long time you would not see Larry’s Q without seeing Stephen’s G35 .  I met them both around the same time, and much like Larry, Stephen has been dedicated to the scene every since he put the G35 together.  Can you believe there was a time when Stephen was against slamming cars, and was totally against the idea of bagging his car.

Stephen’s G35 has been relatively the same for a few years, but it was put together very well the first time and there was no need in changing anything about it.

Andre is relatively new to the local scene , but has a long history in the automotive scene all the way back to the 80s.

I met Andres years ago when I had my Mazda 6 at a car show, and at the time he just got started with the TLX.  Andre’s TLX is a favorite of mine , and it always reminds me of my  Mazda 6 , with its subtle and perfectly executed modifications.  Even before joining Infamous , Andre was dedicated to attending every event on the east coast without hesitation.  Someone that is willing to travel to shows and participate, and not be a trophy chaser is what keeps the scene moving.

First met Carlos when he owned his Suzuki Aerio years ago on Import Atlanta.  Even then he was very active, and had an identity with his Aerio.  He sold the Aerio and had gotten a Kia Forte.  The aftermarket was a little better for the Forte being a new car for Kia, but still not the most popular platform.   He put a lot of energy into making the car the best of what it could be.  At the time it was one of the first Fortes’ on air suspension, I  remember the issues he had with the car and the rear suspension setup not working well with wide wheels.  Which led to him eventually doing extensive body work to make it all work.  Being a unique platform it was really cool to see the car put together so well.  Carlos’ Kia Photos here

But Carlos, has moved on to greater things and got himself a R33 , but I still call him Carlos Kia no matter what he buys…haha

Mo, has been a part of Atlanta automotive scene for many many years.  But has always kept a low profile, and worked in silence and just got things done his own way.  I remember Mo’s G35 Coupe at our Southrnfresh 4 event in 2013.  But since getting rid of that, he has become a euro guy with his A5, and has become a very well known in that community.

Bryan’s Accord has been one of my favorite cars in Atlanta for a long time.  Much like Mo, Bryan does what he does low key, and just gets it done.  Without going crazy with the wheel fitment, and keeping it subtle and clean he has put together one of the nicest Accords over the years.

I think that real car clubs are needed to make our local scene improve.  it promotes quality, and it helps keep the good part of the scene at the forefront.  Some people seem to think that car clubs are for people who need a group to participate.  But the idea behind a car club is to unite like minded people into the same group, and uplift each other to a higher standard.  When it comes down to it we all have a group of friends that we confine to when modifying our vehicles.  Some of them just so happen to have a name..
