FeaturesSouthrnfresh 9SOUTHRNFRESH EVENTS

Southrnfresh 9 Coverage.

Finally we were able to gather again for another Southrnfresh event after a 2 year break.  Back in 2020 none of us imagined how covid would affect our lives.    Some of us were tortured by the thought of being stuck in the house and not being able to travel freely and or hop on a plane and just go without restriction.  But for me it sparked a fire in me to learn skills and take on projects that I would have never had time for if the world was open.  I got so used to being at home and keeping myself busy I started to enjoy it.  I had some thoughts to maybe just wrap up Southrnfresh and just fall back and just do my own thing on a personal level.  With so much going on and so many events happening, I felt like the task was completed with Southrnfresh, and we were no longer needed to contribute.

Southrnfresh began as a place for me to prove a point to the rest of the world.  But after all those years of traveling and making content with our cameras we created life long friendships and relationships with people from all over the world.  I started to notice that people would support SF and love everything SF, but the numbers did not really add up to the amount of support we received.  A few attempts were made to press hard and make SF a full time job, but once it became that the thrill and enjoyment left.  By then most of the original crew had moved on to bigger and better things in their lives.

Erick Garcia’s 997

Dan Chi’s Lexus GS460

Larry Young’s LS460
Stephen Stern’s G35 Sedan
Andre Rivera’s TSX

I picked up majority of the load and still kept the site active as much as possible when time permitted.  I pushed hard to keep things rolling and content flowing, but the fast pace of social media content left a weekly updated website in the dust.  Its difficult to keep up with what the newer generations hustle with a full time job and a family.  And one point we were all about traveling and making content all day and night, but we started to put more value into our own lives.

I always wanted SF to be something everyone can relate to.  I wanted it to be a place where people can see all types of the automotive culture, even though my heart is with the import community.  So once we started to have our events the idea was to make our annual events  like a celebration of some sort, and to have all types of the culture come together.  The day before I started to plan the first Southrnfresh event I told myself if it flops I will never host another one.  Needless to say being here in 2022 still doing these events with such high praise is a dream come true.

The best part is having people actually appreciate us for keeping to the original plan and never straying away from what we started.  As a creator its important for people to understand and see your vision without having to explain it.  Its great to have people and businesses support us because they see the value in what we bring the table without the big name and flashing lights.  I will forever be grateful for everyone that continues to support Southrnfresh and we look forward to continuing to bring content.
