Southrnfresh 10 Recap / Video

Finally after a few months I can sit down and put into words Southrnfresh 10 this year.  Back in 2010 when we started this thing, there was never any plan or elaborate goal with Southrnfresh.  I was simply just wanted to just post photos on a blog and write a few things for the world to see.  It evolved into a place showcasing my peers in the southeast.  And it transitioned into a huge community that has been able to showcase our automotive community without any gimmicks, trends or false representation.  I have been blessed with having such huge support from so many people and companies that trust the brand and what it has stood for all these years.  And none of that could of been done without you all supporting everything we do here and keeping the Southrnfresh name alive.

This years awards started pretty simple, but evolved into what you see here. The original idea was to make simple license plate frames. Once we got the base design set up, we thought about making it a multi-piece frame. So we added the titanium Southrnfresh 10 medallion in the center of it. So it can be removed and used as a key ring. Once it was done, we could not figure out how to display them properly. So the bases were created so that they hold the frame as a trophy, and it also doubles as a holder for all the tools and pieces that come with the frames.

Every year we try to improve on the previous years trophy.  The rings from last year were tough to top, but these did the job.  For years we didn’t do trophies, but I wanted to be able to present people with a gift for their hard work and show appreciation.  And I wanted to put as much effort into the rewards as they put into their build.  So we can never settle for something simple.  Most of the attendees are people who just like to come out and enjoy the afternoon, but know the trophies give a little bit of incentive to people to bring their best.   You can see more photos of the trophies here

Carlos’ and his GTR took home Top 20. Carlos has been building cars for many years. Even before Southrnfresh he was on the local Import Alliance forums in his Suzuki. He then moved on to his Kia Forte featured here many times ( carlos kia ) . His R32 has been his best yet.

Chris’ Accord is one of a kind as well. I met him at a Honda meet last summer. Chris has a long history of JDM history from his time in Japan and past builds in the states. The amount of details in the Accord is almost impossible to display in photos.

Elliot’s EJ1 Coupe was a personal favorite. Part of a OG group of Honda builders out in Birmingham.

Kim’s R32 GTR is a prime example of a quality built R32. Its a good mix of personal styling and staying true to its JDM roots with all the right parts.

Tee has been part of the Lexus scene since before Southrnfresh started. As far as I know he has always put together a quality car. His Aimgain LS500 is absolutely perfect..

Sebastian’s S14 has been a build that we have been anticipating for the last few years. Originally built to compete in FD Pro, but with the rule changes in the last few years it has turned into a masterpiece showing off his style and talent.

I met Co last year at one of the Japanese classic monthly meets. And we connected for a feature ( Co’s Mazda RX-7 Turbo II ) . His FC has been a drift car in the past, but is now a dedicated Auto-X machine.

Heather and her 911 took home Top 20. The purple interior and BBS RS’ got the job done..

Been a huge fan of the Copperhead Integra for many years. It was a honor for Martell to bring the car out for Southrnfresh 10.

Marty still one of my all time favorite Georgia cars. Built to perfection many years ago, and it has remained that way. Featured the cars back in 2011 ( Marty’s 1986 Toyota Corolla GTS )

Austin another OG from the glory days of the tuner culture brought out his spotless EG.

Fuad’s widebody Lexus GS took home Top 20. Last year his Accord took home Top 10.

Peteor’s BMW M3 convertible made its first ever show appearance and took home Top 20.

Alex’s Artisan Spirit Cima is no stranger to awards. Easily one of the nicest Cima builds in the states.

Callahan’s Cadillac Hearse

Nelson’s Chevrolet Chevelle ( Nelson’s Turbo Datsun 260Z )

Daulton’s 76 Mercedes 300D

Asif’s Pandem S13 at the Jzilla Booth. Asif was out of town for the event, but he made sure to get the car there! ( Asif’s Pandem S13)

Josh’s FL5 on Regamaster Evo

Matt’s Integras on display. Dylan is another one of the OGs from Birmingham that has been building Hondas since before Southrnfresh began. His white K swapped Integra is his dedicated track car. And the red one is his older turbo car built many years ago.

Andre’s EK Hatch just finished days before the show , one side wearing ZE40s and the other TE37.

Adam’s RUcar Select 180sx

Eurofed brought out their colorful European fleet.

Arthur’s J’s Racing S2000. I saw Arthur’ cars on someone’s Instagram story, and reached out to a few people and invited him to come out. The car is J’s Racing Canada old Demo car, nice piece of JDM history tucked away in Georgia..

Christian ( Left ) and Jon’s BRZ (Far Right ) . Did not catch the guys in the middle’s name but it was super clean.

Justin ( ItsBlack) booth display. So happy to see his brand evolve to what it has to today. And happy to say his first time vending was at Southrnfresh 10.

Danyelle’s FK8 and Adam’s Integra Type R

Zach’s Mazda Pickup. This is the second version of the original that was built in the 80s. The original truck went through a few owners, and has since disappeared .

Fuad’s Honda Accord Wagon. Fuad has been building this car for so long, it amazes me every time it evolves. We first featured it back in 2010. ( F**KING BANANAS Accord Wagon )

MC Built’s Civic EG

Guy Haynies EF hatch. Guy has been responsible for almost every logo and event logo art since Southrnfresh 3. One of the most talented graphic designers I know. Guy built this EF back around 2008-2010. It was sold to a friend, and he updated the look and eventually sold it back to Guy a few years ago.

Khris H has been part of the Southrnfresh team since day one, and is one of my favorite photographers. And is the man behind all this coverage. This car has been Khris’ heart and soul since I have known him. The story of this car and its evolution is crazy, from being a daily, catching on fire, and now being a all motor drag car.

Matt’s Q45

Perfect lineup of E92 M3s . Really thankful for the European car turnout.

Jordan’s G Wagon and GLE 63, and Errol’s Porsche Cayenne

Clean Culture Atlanta

I was able to get my Protege out with a slightly new look. Eric at Sir Wraps came through with a last minute livery inspired by the Mazda Rally Team. The design was re-worked by Guy Haynie to include the Southrnfresh logo.

Like all the rest of the events we had Guy Haynie design our logo for the event. We wanted to make the logo look like an official stamp of some sort to represent the 10th event. This years logo is by far my favorite logo. We ended up running out of shirts pretty early in the day, but we did run a second run in our store for the few that did not get a chance to get them.  These shirts were printed with a special metallic ink that had a light shimmer to them, but still had a smooth feel to them.

Back in 2010 when we did the first show, making it to number ten seemed like such a crazy thing. A lot has changed since 2010, the scene has evolved from an underground type of community to mainstream. I am forever grateful that Southrnfresh has been able to remain what it is, and you all continue to represent and support the brand. I have been fighting hard to keep the content rolling and the Southrnfresh name alive the last few years amongst all the social distractions. And whenever I feel like it may be a waste of time or no one is reading or looking at the content. I get small doses of motivation from people that have stories and memories that are forever engraved into their life all rooted from Southrnfresh. It makes it feel real, and makes it all worth the late nights and the effort. And as I get older that seems to be much more valuable to me and the Southrnfresh brand.

The great master plan after the 10th event, was to revamp the event and step into a different style and venue change. But after this event, I cant see these events being done any other way. The formula works, and people seem to have a good time, so we will see everyone at Southrnfresh 11 March 2nd 2024.
